MESS ATTENDANT and
MESS ATTENDANT - STEP 1
Responsibilities include a significant amount of the following duties, which are typical but not all-inclusive: Wash dishes, glasses, silverware, cooking vessels, cooking utensils Clean and sanitize woodwork, walls, ceilings, tables, counters, floor drains, kitchen and serving equipment Remove trays from dining tables left by patrons Remove garbage and trash to disposal areas Fills condiment (salt, pepper, sugar, etc) containers Policing outside areas of trash, garbage, cigarette butts, etc. Climbing ladders (4 ft and up) Lifting and/or carrying up to fifty (50) lbs without assistance Must be able to push seventy (70) pounds on wheels Load and unload dishwashing machines Clean dishwashing machines Clean restrooms, dry storage areas, and refrigeration units Unloading supply trucks Procuring subsistence items from storeroom or refrigerator as requested Washing, cleaning, peeling, slicing, or otherwise preparing fruits and vegetables for salads, desserts, and general cooking Serving of food to patrons Maintaining outside beautification (weeding beds, planting plants, etc) Tasks requiring prolonged standing and/or walking Other requirements may come up that mess attendants may have to accomplish. As long as the task does not produce bodily harm or a flagrant violation of safety guidelines, the task will be completed by the mess attendant.
