JOB TITLE
Assistant Food Service Manager
SUPERVISOR
Food Service Director, Principal, and Food Service Manager
EXEMPT STATUS
Non-Exempt
WORK YEAR
Up to 182 Days (7 hours per day)
BASIC FUNCTION
Assist in providing leadership and expertise for developing quality nutritional program; provide direction for the organization of all Food Service functions, personnel, and services; and to assist in maintaining a financially sound School Food Service Program.
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES
Assist with planning, coordinating, and monitoring school food services programs including food and equipment procurement and replacement, USDA contract negotiations, food service to exceptional children, professional growth of food services personnel, nutritional education/awareness efforts and promotional programs relating to school food services activities and operations
Assist in evaluating equipment needs and develop specifications for new and replacement equipment
Assure quality of school food service program; assure food quality, nutritional requirements, safety, sanitation, management practices, and special meals production meet District/school standards
Plans and completes work on timely basis
Shows an interest and concern for the total school program and its efficient operation
Is consistently responsible and displays an attitude of honesty and credibility
Maintains work area in a neat and organized manner
Acts in accordance with the policies as set forth by the Breckinridge County Board of Education, KRS, KAR, and applicable Federal laws and regulations
Demonstrates loyalty, dedication, and a positive attitude toward the mission and goals of the Breckinridge County Schools
Is punctual and prepared for immediate assumption of duties upon arrival at school
Utilizes time appropriately and maintains good attendance
Perform other duties as assigned
KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES
KNOWLEDGE
OF THE FOLLOWING
Nutrition requirements and principles of good nutrition and quantity food preparation and service
Meal production, planning, and scheduling
Price and portion controls
Practices and procedures used in ordering, receiving, storing, and inventory of food and supplies
Proper operation and maintenance of food service equipment
Food handling, safety, and sanitation standards and techniques
Operation of manual and computer-assisted accounting, budget control, and record management systems
Federal program guidelines governing child nutrition programs
Organization and planning methods, trends, techniques, and practices
ABILITIES
Plan, coordinate, and manage various school food services programs Prepare, review, and analyze accounting, budget control, and files, records, summaries, and reports
Develop and recommend changes in school food services operations
Plan and modify menus in relation to likes, waste, and commodities using proper nutrition requirements
Analyze food service operations for cost effectiveness
Effectively and efficiently operate computers and other machines and equipment
Understand and carry out oral and written directions
Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships

and peripheral vision.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Any combination equivalent to: high school diploma or G.E.D. Certificate as required by Kentucky law Must possess a valid Kentucky driver's license.
Has met the requirements for criminal records check and child abuse and neglect check as specified by Kentucky State Law
Three (3) years of responsible food service experience
Must complete and maintain certification for school food services personnel and Level
III ASFSA
certification
