Job Description

The North Reading Public Schools is seeking an experienced Food Service Worker to work at the Secondary level. North Reading Public Schools is actively looking to build a diverse workforce to ensure all students feel welcome, safe, and valued for who they are and supported to reach their potential.

This position is 22.5 hours per week from about 9:30 AM to 2:00 PM, Monday through Friday. The position comes with competitive hourly rates and benefit package including health insurance.

Essential duties

Assist in preparation of hot and cold foods

Serve lunch to students

Perform daily cleaning including ware washing

Cashiering

Work closely with the Lead Manager, Director of Food Services, and other staff on a daily basis

Physical demands Tasks require the ability to exert strenuous effort in work requiring moderate to heavy physical activity. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to move about and is continuously required to stand. The employee must spend most of their shift on their feet. The employee will frequently bend or twist at the neck and trunk while performing the duties of this job. Additionally, the employee will frequently reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee continuously uses hand strength to grasp tools. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. Handling of other heavy items of increased weight may be required; although the use of wheeled carts and assistance is encouraged whenever possible. Cleaning the cafeteria sometimes involves folding and unfolding the cafeteria tables. Most tasks require visual perception and discrimination and the ability to distinguish color. The employee must be able to input information into a computer and read material from a computer monitor as well as printed matter with or without visual aids.

Requirements

One (1) year past experience in school cafeteria and/or food service preferred

Hardworking and energetic

Works well with colleagues

Can work independently

ServSafe certification

High School/Trade School degree preferred

Citizenship, residency, or work visa required
