The Job:
We are seeking an experienced Food Assistant to join our team. As a Food Assistant, you will be responsible for offering quality food service to the Residents at our Memory Care Unit - White Oak Cottages. The responsibility of the Food Assistant is to prepare and serve nutritious meals (breakfast mainly) to the Residents, to engage in activities with Residents which provide enjoyment and a sense of accomplishment and satisfaction, and to maintain a welcoming environment by maintaining a clean and well-organized kitchen which meets the requirements of the Board of Health.
Pay & Schedule Pay:
$22/hour Part-time mornings: 7:00 am-11:00am - Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
Any task requested by Administrator that helps to ensure resident safety and security. Recognize and respond to the needs of the residents. Promote autonomy of residents in decision-making. Communicate with co-workers at all levels to meet the needs of the residents. Work closely with Life Enrichment staff to ensure proper supplies for events and birthdays. Prepare and serve meals, between meal, bedtime and other nutritional snacks. Observe standard precautions per organizational policy Keep all areas of the Kitchens and pantries clean, meeting Board of Health standards. Follow established safety precautions and observe, monitor and intervene in or report to the Administrator any unsafe conditions. Report accidents and incidents when they occur. Report any abuse or suspected abuse to the Administrator immediately. Attend and participate in orientation programs, annual on-going training and educational classes. Perform other related duties as required by the residents. Adhere to all safety policies including reporting on all incidents immediately to the nurse or the Administrator. Report needs for repairs to the Administrator.
Job Requirements:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work in a high pressure and demanding work environment. Promote a positive and team-oriented work environment as well as being able to work independently. Detail-orientated with the ability to prioritize competing demands on time. Ability to work nights, weekends, holidays, and be on call for emergencies. Education and/or
Experience Requirements:
High School Diploma Previous Food Service experience ServSafe®
Certification Physical Requirements:
Must move intermittently throughout the workday inside and outside the Cottages. Walking and standing for long periods throughout your workday. Ability to perform repetitive motion such as bending, pushing/pulling, reaching, walking and standing. Occasional lifting of residents from the floor weighing up to 150 lbs with assistance. Walking or standing 80%, sitting 20%.
