SUMMARY:

Responsible to assist the School Dining Services program as needed.

ESSENTIAL

DUTIES and

RESPONSIBILITIES

Other duties may be assigned. Assists in maintaining high standard of nutrition for school dining service program. Assists in preparing, cooking and serving the meals at assigned school (Breakfast & Lunch). Responsible for following all established sanitation procedures. Assists in student, money, and meal accountability as required in assigned school. Assists in supervision of children during meal service as required in assigned school. Responsible for washing and sanitizing food service utensils. Ability to work harmoniously with staff. Responsible for correct equipment use and reporting of needed maintenance. Ability to lift and store food and food related products. Responsible for all other job related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

EXPERIENCE

High School graduate or GED equivalent. Training in sanitation, food handling and safety.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively with individuals and groups of employees.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Knowledge of basic mathematics.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. OTHER SKILLS and

ABILITIES

Ability to use a Personal Computer with database, spreadsheet and word-processing software. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff and the school community. Ability to speak clearly and concisely both in oral and written communication. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and School Committee policies.
