$19-$22 per hour, depending on experience, plus tips. The Tides Estate is seeking an experienced, polished, and service-driven Restaurant Captain to join our hospitality team. This hands-on leadership position is responsible for directing dining-room service, supporting the service team, and ensuring an exceptional guest experience from arrival through departure. The ideal candidate leads by example, maintains a strong presence on the floor, and understands the precision, timing, and attention to detail required for upscale hospitality. Previous experience as a restaurant captain, banquet captain, or comparable front-of-house service supervisor is required. Position Overview Working closely with the maître d', management, and culinary team, the Restaurant Captain oversees assigned service areas and coordinates servers, bussers, and food runners. This individual ensures that service is organized, attentive, and properly paced while maintaining professional standards throughout weddings, private celebrations, and special events. Key Responsibilities Lead and coordinate the service team. Conduct pre-service briefings, communicate assignments, and ensure staff understand the menu, service sequence, event timeline, and special requests. Oversee dining-room preparation. Inspect table settings, linens, glassware, silverware, and service stations to ensure all areas are properly prepared before guests arrive. Direct attentive, well-paced service. Coordinate with the kitchen and service team to manage course timing, food delivery, beverage replenishment, and clearing. Remain actively involved on the floor and assist wherever needed. Manage the guest experience. Welcome guests, anticipate needs, and address concerns calmly and professionally. Communicate allergies and dietary restrictions accurately, confirm accommodations with the appropriate team members, and escalate issues when necessary. Coach staff and maintain standards. Guide team members on service techniques, presentation, and guest interaction. Provide constructive direction and promptly communicate staffing or performance concerns to management. Oversee closing responsibilities. Ensure breakdown, side work, equipment storage, and room resets are completed properly. Maintain clean, organized service areas and communicate operational concerns following each shift. Required Qualifications Prior experience as a restaurant captain, banquet captain, or comparable service supervisor is required. Experience in upscale dining, weddings, or high-volume catered events is strongly preferred. Strong knowledge of formal service, table settings, tray handling, course coordination, and professional dining-room etiquette. Proven leadership and communication skills, with the ability to direct a team while remaining courteous, composed, and responsive to guests. Excellent organization, punctuality, and attention to detail, with the ability to manage changing priorities during busy service periods. Availability for evenings, weekends, holidays, and late-night events, and the ability to perform essential duties—including prolonged standing, walking, and carrying service items—with or without reasonable accommodation.
