The work involves responsibility for the preparation of food on a moderate to large scale. In the absence of higher level staff, the Cook directs the work of subordinate kitchen personnel, such as Assistant Cooks and Food Service Helpers, in the preparation and service of meals and other kitchen work. This position differs from that of Head Cook by virtue of the Iäct that there is no overall staff supervision and menu planning is carried out by a higher level cook or supervisor in charge of food service.
