Job Description

JOB DESCRIPTION
Under the general supervision of the Food Pantry Supervisor (FPS), the Food Pantry Worker (FPW) will work within the Community Food Pantry and be responsible for distributing food packages to the community during food pantry hours. This position includes supporting the operations and ensuring the pantry runs smoothly while meeting the needs of individuals and families experiencing food insecurity and ensuring adherence to Regional Food Bank, NYS DOH and HPNAP regulations and requirements, receiving and tracking food donations, and maintaining a food inventory system. This position performs clean up duties to maintain sanitary conditions in the workplace and follows program policies and procedures. Must be flexible with schedule to meet the needs of the clients which will include evenings, weekends, and Holidays. Additional hours may be required to meet client needs.
QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE POSITION
(Not the Individuals Qualifications) 1. High School Diploma or GED. 2. Must have and maintain a valid NYS driver's license. 3. Ability to function independently and have flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work with residents and staff. 4. Must be organized and detail oriented and have competent literacy and writing, documentation, communications, and interpersonal abilities (friendly, courteous, helpful, ability to work as part of a team). Ability to deliver services to those in need with compassion, clear boundaries, and good communication skills. Ability to lift a maximum of 50 lbs., be on your feet, push, pull and bend repeatedly and climb ladders. 7. Must be proficient in basic office computer software (Word, Excel, etc.) 8. Bilingual preferred but not required.
Pay:
$16.50 per hour
