Assistant Food Service Supervsiors

The North Rockland (Haverstraw-Stony Point) Central School District is seeking candidates for the position of Assistant Food Service Supervisors in each of our schools. These are full-time 10-month positions which include a regionally competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package. All candidates must meet the Rockland County Civil Service minimum requirements.

JOB DUTIES

•Assist in overseeing daily food service operations, ensuring meals are prepared, served, and stored according to established standards. Participate in and supervise the preparation and serving of food, including the cooking, heating, and assembly of menu items such as vegetables, salads, sandwiches, soups, and casseroles. Support the Food Service Supervisor in ordering, receiving, and organizing food, supplies, and equipment; monitor inventory levels and ensure proper stock rotation. Provide direction and guidance to food service staff and helpers, instructing on proper food handling, equipment use, and sanitation procedures. Operate and assist others in the use of various kitchen equipment, including slicers, mixers, ovens, dishwashers, and small appliances. Ensure kitchen, serving areas, and dining spaces are kept clean and meet health and safety regulations; assist in sanitation inspections. Monitor cashier activities and assist in maintaining accurate cash and point-of-sale records. Maintain basic operational records, including staff assignments, production counts, and inventory usage; prepare simple reports as directed. Assist in training new staff and providing ongoing skill development for team members. Help implement menu plans and make minor adjustments to accommodate special dietary needs or shortages. Act in the absence of the Food Service Supervisor when required, making routine operational decisions.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Six (6) months of experience which involved cooking or food preparation and/or serving of food in a school or institutional setting (e.g., restaurants, cafeterias, catering services or similar environments) which also involved providing work direction or supervision of staff.
