Position Overview:
As a Food Service Aide , you will be responsible for assisting with meal service, maintaining cleanliness, and ensuring that elders' dietary needs are met.
Your key responsibilities include:
Serving meals to elders while following therapeutic dietary guidelines and portion control. Setting up dining areas with dishes, utensils, and condiments while maintaining a welcoming environment. Transporting food and supplies using carts weighing up to 200 lbs and ensuring proper food temperatures. Cleaning and sanitizing dining areas, including wiping tables, removing trash, and sweeping floors. Assisting with washing dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment either by hand or using a dishwasher. Handling and storing food and supplies following safety and sanitation guidelines. Delivering soiled dining linens to the laundry as needed.
Qualifications:
Willingness to care for older adults and commitment to the organization's mission. Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language. Basic knowledge of food safety, sanitation practices, and kitchen equipment. Strong organizational skills and the ability to follow simple written and verbal instructions. Ability to move quickly and effectively between tasks.
Physical and Environmental Requirements:
Frequent standing, bending, stooping, and stretching. Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50 lbs occasionally, 25 lbs frequently, and 10 lbs constantly. Exposure to sharp objects, kitchen utensils, and commercial/residential kitchen equipment. Work in a variety of environments, including well-lit kitchens, walk-in refrigerators, and freezers.
