Job Description
Pioneer College Caterers at Cedarville University is hiring a full-time Kitchen Steward and Utility Attendant. This hands-on morning position supports both guest-facing service areas and back-of-house operations by preparing beverage and breakfast stations, maintaining supplies and cleanliness, and helping the dish room operate efficiently. This is a year-round position for someone who notices what needs attention, responds quickly, and takes pride in keeping service areas stocked, clean, and ready for guests.
Schedule:
- 6:00 a.m
- 2:30 p.m.
- Sunday through Thursday
- Full-time, year-round position
Responsibilities:
- Open and stock coffee, juice, milk, cappuccino, waffle, toaster, yogurt, and bagel service areas
- Confirm assigned stations are clean, functional, fully stocked, and guest-ready before service
- Keep beverages, condiments, breakfast items, soda BIBs, ice cream, and soft-serve products stocked
- Respond promptly to low stock, spills, equipment concerns, and service needs
- Clean and reset counters, equipment, and serving lines after rushes
- Run clean dishes to the dining room and return clean pots and pans to the kitchen
- Stack cups, sort silverware, organize the pots-and-pans rack, and remove trash
- Communicate with the dish team and manager to resolve bottlenecks and maintain service flow
- Assist with kitchen preparation, restocking, cleaning projects, and other team assignments
Qualifications:
- Dependable and able to work the complete Sunday-through-Thursday schedule
- Able to recognize and respond to guest-facing and dish room needs without waiting to be prompted
- Strong teamwork, flexibility, initiative, and communication skills
- Able to remain on your feet and move efficiently throughout the shift
- Able to repeatedly lift and carry 20-50 pounds
- Able to work safely in hot, cold, wet, noisy, and demanding food-service conditions
- Willing to follow food-safety, sanitation, chemical-handling, and equipment-use procedures
- Previous food-service, dish room, utility, custodial, or stocking experience is helpful but not required
