Back Temporary Weekend Café Assistant Restaurant/Retail Medford , Oregon temp Aug 19, 2026 Temporary Weekend Café Assistant BBSI on behalf of our client is seeking a Temporary Weekend Café Assistant to support a faith-based church café ministry focused on creating community and connection. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hospitality, food service, and serving others in a welcoming church environment. Applicants must be comfortable working within a Christian ministry setting and willing to align with the organization's Statement of Faith and Core Beliefs.
Position Details Position Type:
Temporary, Part-Time, Non-Exempt Pay Rate:
$16.40/hour
Schedule:
10-15 hours per week, primarily weekends and special events
Assignment Duration:
May-August 2026 Position Summary The Weekend Café Assistant works closely with the Café Manager and volunteers to support café operations during church services and events. The café serves as a ministry designed to help people connect and build community within the church family. Qualifications High school diploma preferred Previous food service experience Current Oregon Food Handler's Card required Required Skills & Abilities Ability to follow written and verbal instructions Strong communication and customer service skills Ability to work cooperatively with volunteers and staff Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment Good time management and ability to work independently Basic knowledge of commercial kitchen equipment and food preparation Understanding of sanitation standards and health codes Ability to safely use cleaning supplies and equipment Basic computer skills for email and time entry Good judgment and professionalism during services and events Physical Requirements Prolonged standing, walking, bending, twisting, kneeling, and reaching Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Ability to work in an active kitchen environment Essential Duties Assist with meal and food preparation Help guide and support café volunteers Maintain safe food handling and sanitation practices Clean and organize kitchen, preparation areas, utensils, and equipment Assist with café cleanup after services and events Monitor inventory and communicate supply needs to Café Manager Ensure food presentation meets established standards Serve as backup support for Café Manager when needed Perform other duties as assigned This is a temporary opportunity within a faith-based organization dedicated to serving its community through hospitality and ministry.
