Job Description

Our busy and growing Catering Department is looking for a Catering Assistant! This position's main duties will be organizing prepared catering orders, ensuring accuracy of orders and handing them off to customers with a detailed walk through of the order. It will also include some batched alcoholic drink making, assisting our prep team in packaging, stocking and the occasional in-house delivery and set up. This position is mostly independent work, but there is a large amount of daily communication with the prep team and Catering Coordinators.

This position will work primarily out of our N. Mississippi catering office, but there will be some work out of the Hawthorne catering office as well, on an as-needed basis. The schedule will be 3+ days a week, Thursday-Saturday, with flexibility to help cover other shifts if possible. The amount of hours are semi-flexible and varied by week, based on the volume of orders on a given day. We are in our busy season, so we anticipate this to be an 18-22 hour/wk position on average. Ideally, you have flexibility in your schedule to work on other days when we need you.

Job duties include
  • Communicating with our Catering Coordinators and Prep team about orders
  • Organizing and double-checking orders before hand-offs
  • Stocking and keeping inventory of catering supplies
  • Special Catering Events, including packaging and handing off orders
  • Flexibility with duties as needed; filling time between customer communication with catering-related tasks
  • Occasional delivery & drop off, occasional set up, using the company vehicle. Skills needed
  • Must have great communication skills, with both customers and coworkers. Spanish language skills are helpful but not necessary; you must be able to communicate effectively with non-English speaking coworkers
  • Customer service must be friendly, quick and in the PQN style
  • warm, positive and can-do! Must be able to exude this customer service in person, over the phone and via email communication
  • Awesome attention to detail, follow-through and ability to follow a structured checklist and adhere to firm deadlines
  • Be a self-starter. Be able to manage the priorities of the position as they change throughout the day
  • Humility & resilience
  • Must be a team player, enjoy working in a busy, fast-paced kitchen environment. Can be loud with a lot of moving players
  • Excellent critical thinking, multi-tasking and problem solving skills
  • Must be able to lift and move up to 40 lbs
  • Must have, or be able to obtain before working, an Oregon Food Handlers Card
  • Must have, or be able to obtain, a full OLCC server permit (per OLCC, must be 21+ to mix cocktails)
  • Must have a driver's license and a good driving record.
Wage:
$22.76/hr base wage, plus catering commission which is dependent on how many orders are handed off by the Catering Assistant. This ranges from $3-10+/hr, but averages around $6-8+/hr in the summer.
