Food Service Personnel are expected to provide world class customer service to Michigan Medicine patients, visitors and their coworkers while maintaining the highest quality standards for food safety and sanitation. Job Summary Play a role in providing exceptional food and service to our patients by either assembling patient trays, serving patient trays, washing patient dishware, or another supporting role in our kitchen. Follow food safety guidelines and infection prevention protocols Follow standard recipes for portion control and operate food service equipment safely. Required Qualifications• A High School Diploma or GED 1 year of work experience This position requires walking and standing throughout the shift, frequent bending, twisting, squatting, and reaching. Modes of Work Positions that are eligible for hybrid or mobile/remote work mode are at the discretion of the hiring department. Work Schedule This is a temporary position working in the kitchen to provide food service to patients working 30-40 hours a week. Schedules may vary with morning shifts varying between 6 am - 8 am start times and afternoon shifts varying between 2:30 pm - 6 pm start times. The pay rate is $17/hour. Background Screening Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings. Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act. Pre-employment drug testing applies to all selected candidates, including new or additional faculty and staff appointments, as well as transfers from other U-M campuses.
