Job Purpose:
The Cafeteria Utility Worker at Wiley University plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation and cleanliness of the cafeteria. This position is responsible for maintaining a sanitary environment, assisting with food preparation, and supporting the overall dining experience for students, faculty, and staff.
Key Responsibilities:
Maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards in the cafeteria, including washing dishes, cleaning tables, and sweeping floors. Assist with food preparation tasks as directed by the kitchen staff, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations. Set up and break down dining areas before and after meal services, including arranging furniture and equipment as needed. Monitor inventory levels of cleaning supplies and kitchen equipment, reporting any shortages or maintenance needs to the supervisor. Support the cafeteria team in delivering excellent customer service by addressing any inquiries or concerns from patrons. Follow all established procedures for waste disposal and recycling, contributing to the college's sustainability efforts. Collaborate with colleagues to ensure efficient workflow and a positive dining environment for all visitors.
Required Education:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Required Experience:
Previous experience in a food service or cafeteria setting is preferred. Familiarity with basic cleaning and sanitation procedures in a food service environment.
Required Skills and Abilities:
Ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate clearly with colleagues and supervisors. Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately. Capability to handle physical tasks such as lifting, carrying, and standing for extended periods. Basic understanding of food safety regulations and practices. Excellent time management skills to ensure tasks are completed efficiently and within designated time frames.
