Job Description

Assistant Manager, Café OperationsAbout Clover Clover is a family-focused destination that combines a café, indoor playground, parties, events, and community experiences. Our café is an important part of the Clover experience, offering quality coffee, food, and thoughtful service to families throughout the day. We are seeking an experienced, organized, and hands-on Cafe Assistant Manager to lead the daily operations of our coffee bar and kitchen. Position Summary This position is solely responsible for café operations . The Assistant Manager of Café Operations will oversee food and beverage quality, café inventory, ordering, staff training, kitchen and coffee bar procedures, and café-specific systems. This role does not oversee playground operations, front desk operations, parties, facility management, or general staffing outside of the café team. The ideal candidate is passionate about great food and coffee, takes pride in clean and organized systems, confidently leads a team, and is committed to ensuring every item served meets Clover's quality standards. Key ResponsibilitiesCafé Operations & Food Quality Oversee all daily café operations, including the coffee bar, kitchen, food prep, presentation, cleanliness, and service flow Ensure all food and beverages are prepared, served, and presented according to Clover standards Conduct regular quality checks for food temperature, freshness, portioning, appearance, accuracy, and taste Monitor café order times and help improve efficiency during busy periods Maintain a clean, organized, well-stocked, and guest-ready café at all times Ensure food safety, health department compliance, and proper food handling procedures are consistently followed Ordering & Inventory Manage weekly ordering from Clover's five food and beverage vendors Maintain accurate inventory levels for food, drinks, coffee, paper goods, café supplies, and cleaning supplies Track usage, anticipate needs, and prevent unnecessary run-outs, over-ordering, and waste Receive and organize deliveries, verify accuracy, and communicate shortages or vendor concerns promptly Oversee café inventory systems, par levels, storage organization, labeling, rotation, and expiration-date checks Staff Leadership & Training Directly oversee, coach, and support café team members Train staff on Clover's coffee bar standards, drink recipes, kitchen menu items, food prep, food safety, customer service, opening procedures, and closing procedures Hold team members accountable for food quality, cleanliness, urgency, professionalism, and adherence to café procedures Provide ongoing coaching and retraining when standards are not being met Help identify staffing needs, communicate performance concerns, and support café scheduling needs as directed by management SOPs & Systems Develop, implement, maintain, and improve café-specific SOPs, checklists, recipes, prep guides, inventory systems, and opening/closing procedures Ensure café staff consistently follow approved systems and operating standards Identify operational inefficiencies and bring practical solutions to management Maintain clear communication with the General Manager and ownership regarding café needs, inventory concerns, equipment issues, quality concerns, and staffing performance Required Qualifications 3+ years of restaurant, café, coffee shop, food service, or hospitality management experience Experience overseeing food ordering, vendor relationships, inventory, and food cost control Experience training and leading café, barista, kitchen, or food-service staff Strong understanding of food safety, food quality, kitchen cleanliness, and health department standards Excellent organization, communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and lead by example during busy service periods Comfortable using inventory systems, spreadsheets, scheduling software, and digital communication tools Preferred Qualifications Coffee shop or specialty coffee experience Experience training baristas and maintaining coffee quality standards Food Manager Certification Experience developing recipes, kitchen procedures, or café SOPs Experience with vendor ordering, food cost management, and inventory controls Experience using Microsoft Excel, Word, and AI tools such as ChatGPT Schedule & Work Environment This is a hands-on, in-person leadership role. The Assistant Manager of Café Operations must be willing to work a flexible schedule that may include mornings, weekends, holidays, and high-volume party or event days.

$17.00 - $19.00 per hour
