As an Assistant Catering Office Assistant, you will help ensure the smooth operation of catering services by scheduling staff, communicating with customers, coordinating event details, and supporting food service activities. Your efforts will contribute to successful campus events that bring students, employees, and community members together. This position offers the opportunity to build valuable administrative, organizational, and hospitality skills while working as part of a collaborative team. From assisting with event setup and guest services to managing emails, schedules, and daily office tasks, you will play an important role in creating positive guest experiences and supporting the university's mission. Ideal for someone who is dependable, customer-focused, and enjoys a variety of responsibilities, this role provides hands-on experience in both office operations and event services within a dynamic higher education setting. Supports the catering department by handling phone calls appropriately, entering orders via email, scheduling appointments, greeting guests, answering general and specific inquiries, and reporting data as needed. Maintain accurate records while providing excellent customer service to the internal and external clients. Assigns duties and schedules of student employees. Maintains inventories of catering supplies and equipment. Responsible for inventory control and ordering of equipment, catering supplies, paper, and linen as needed. Gather appropriate materials before delivery and deliver food using carts and a catering van. Assist in banquet set-up and cleanup, on-site inventory control, and preparing and serving food. Responsible for polishing silverware, sanitation, cleaning/maintenance of all equipment and accessories. Other job-related duties as assigned. High School Diploma or equivalent. Must hold an official ID or a valid driver's license.
