Role:
The Banquet Captain is responsible for overseeing the execution of banquet and event services, ensuring that all aspects of service are delivered to high standards. This role involves managing banquet staff, coordinating with other departments, handling guest requests, and ensuring that events run smoothly and efficiently. The Banquet Captain is pivotal in maintaining the quality of service and addressing any issues that arise during events. Job Summary The Banquet Setup Associate is responsible for setting up, maintaining, and breaking down banquet rooms and event spaces according to hotel and guest specifications. This position ensures all meetings, weddings, conferences, and special events are prepared accurately, safely, and on time while providing excellent customer service and teamwork. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Set up banquet rooms according to Banquet Event Orders (BEOs) Arrange tables, chairs, linens, stages, dance floors, podiums, and audiovisual equipment Break down event spaces after functions and return equipment to storage areas Maintain cleanliness and organization of banquet rooms, storage areas, and service stations Replenish water stations, glassware, and event supplies as needed Assist banquet servers and supervisors during events when necessary Move and transport heavy equipment, tables, and chairs safely Ensure all setups meet hotel quality and safety standards Communicate with supervisors regarding event changes or guest requests Follow all hotel policies, safety procedures, and attendance requirements Provide friendly and professional service to guests and coworkers Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent preferred Previous banquet, hospitality, or event setup experience preferred but not required Ability to work flexible hours including nights, weekends, and holidays Strong teamwork and communication skills Ability to follow directions and work independently Professional appearance and positive attitude Physical Requirements Ability to stand and walk for extended periods Ability to lift, push, or carry up to 50-100 pounds Frequent bending, lifting, reaching, and moving equipment throughout the shift Preferred Skills Knowledge of banquet room setup styles such as classroom, theater, banquet rounds, and conference layouts Basic knowledge of event equipment and hotel operations Strong attention to detail and time management skills
Working Conditions:
Work in a banquet or event environment with exposure to noise, heat, and high-traffic areas. Flexibility to work mornigs, days, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
