Our camp dining hall is the hub of the camp experience. Our campers, guests, and staff visit the dining hall up to 3 times each day for healthy and fun meals to fuel their adventures. The Food Service Assistant supports the preparation, service, and clean-up of meals served to campers, retreat guests, and staff at YMCA Camp Casey. Working under the supervision of the Food Service Director and guidance of the Food Service Lead, this position helps maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming dining environment that fosters community, supports healthy living, and reflects YMCA values. This is a seasonal, part-time position with flexible hours that may include mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays based on camp and group schedules.Job Duties/Responsibilities:
Assist in meal preparation, including washing, chopping, assembling, and portioning ingredients as directed by the Food Service Director. Help set up dining areas and serving stations prior to each meal. Serve food to campers, guests, and staff courteously and efficiently during mealtimes. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, dishwashing area, and dining hall. Wash dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment following established sanitation procedures. Assist with receiving, unpacking, and storing food deliveries and supplies. Follow all food safety and hygiene standards in compliance with local health regulations and YMCA policies. Report any equipment or safety issues to the Food Service Director or Lead immediately. Support other kitchen team members to ensure timely meal service and clean-up. Perform other duties as assigned.Qualifications:
Minimum Age:
18 Previous food service or kitchen experience preferred, but not required. Ability to follow instructions and work effectively in a team environment. Current Washington State Food Handlers Permit (required prior to first shift). Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Commitment to maintaining cleanliness, safety, and YMCA service standards. Willingness to work a flexible, seasonal schedule including weekends and holidays.Y Culture:
