Full-Time or Part-Time Job Summary The Customer Consultant is the educational heart of our storefront and an essential guide for our wellness-conscious community. Beyond stocking and checkout tasks, this role focuses on providing personalized, deeply knowledgeable, and inclusive consultations by actively engaging on the floor with shoppers seeking guidance on nutrition, dietary lifestyles, and sustainable living. A successful candidate will accurately process transactions, maintain floor displays, and serve as an expert ambassador for our healthy, family-focused brand.
Key Responsibilities & Duties Wellness & Consultation Services:
Proactively engage with customers on the sales floor, assess their health and dietary goals, answer product questions, and provide information aligned with store standards (e.g., organic, non-GMO, local, fair-trade, DSHEA).
Wellness & Floor Support:
Prioritize the organization, neatness, and stocking of the wellness department while supporting the grocery, dairy, frozen, and bulk sections; proactively assist customers at refill stations, guide them through unique health ingredients, and keep all shelves beautifully faced.
Product Freshness & Rotation:
Monitor product expiration dates closely, practicing the First-In, First-Out (FIFO) method to ensure only the freshest healthy options are available.
Transaction Processing:
Scan items efficiently, weigh bulk goods accurately, and process cash, credit, debit, gift cards, and electronic benefits (EBT/SNAP). To ensure accuracy, count change back to customers.
Inventory Accuracy:
Consistently scan each item individually to ensure accurate transactions and maintenance of inventory count.
Bulk & Produce Identification:
Learn, differentiate, and memorize PLU codes for a vast selection of organic produce, heirloom varieties, and specialty items.
Bagging & Sustainability:
Pack groceries carefully using reusable, paper, or compostable bags, respecting customer preferences for zero-waste packaging.
Cash Management:
Count and balance the cash drawer at the start and end of every day, maintaining strict accuracy.
Lane & Store Maintenance:
Keep the checkout area, shopping aisles, display cases, restrooms, and back rooms clean, sanitized, and organized using store-approved cleaning products. Qualifications & Skills Passion for
Wellness:
A genuine interest in health, nutrition, organic foods, dietary lifestyles (e.g., vegan, gluten-free, keto), or holistic wellness is required.
Education & Experience:
Although no formal education is required; an extensive wellness knowledge is required. Wellness degrees/certifications, prior health food store, alternative health, or wellness coaching experience is a plus.
Product Knowledge & Consulting:
Prior knowledge and a willingness to continuously research and learn about emerging health trends, supplements, vitamins, and unique grocery ingredients to provide expert-level advice to shoppers.
Organizational Skills:
Strong attention to detail to ensure accurate shelf pricing labels, correct product placement, and proper inventory rotation.
Communication Skills:
Empathetic listening, patience, and clear educational communication skills to guide customers confidently through specialized or allergen-sensitive inquiries. Physical Requirements Ability to stand and walk comfortably around the store floor for extended periods of time (up to 8 hours). Ability to repeatedly lift, bend, push, pull, reach, and carry items weighing up to 25-30 lbs (such as heavy bulk sacks, beverage crates, or stocking boxes). Constant manual dexterity for unboxing products, stocking shelves, and handling delicate merchandise. Work Schedule & Environment Vibrant, friendly, and family-oriented retail environment.
