The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Japanese cuisine, exceptional knife skills, and experience in fine dining environments. This role offers an exciting opportunity to craft authentic sushi dishes while maintaining high standards of food safety and presentation. Candidates with prior restaurant or culinary experience, especially within the food industry or catering sectors, are encouraged to apply. The Sushi Chef will play a vital role in delivering an exceptional dining experience for our guests through expert food preparation and innovative menu creation. Duties Prepare and assemble sushi dishes according to established recipes and presentation standards Ensure all food handling practices meet safety and sanitation regulations Plan and develop sushi menus that align with customer preferences and seasonal ingredients Maintain cleanliness and organization of the sushi station and kitchen area Manage inventory levels for sushi ingredients, ensuring freshness and quality control Collaborate with kitchen staff to coordinate meal preparation during service hours Uphold food safety standards, including proper storage, handling, and disposal of raw fish and other ingredients Assist in catering events or special functions requiring sushi or Japanese cuisine expertise Train junior kitchen staff on sushi techniques, knife skills, and food safety protocols Skills Extensive culinary experience with a focus on Japanese cuisine or sushi preparation Strong knife skills and proficiency in food preparation techniques Knowledge of food safety regulations and proper handling of raw seafood Experience in menu planning, fine dining, and food presentation excellence Background in the food industry, including restaurant experience or catering services Ability to work efficiently under pressure during busy service hours Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail in food plating and hygiene standards Prior dietary department or dietary aide experience is a plus but not required Familiarity with food service operations, meal preparation, and cooking techniques related to sushi and Japanese dishes
