This is a full-time, regular non-exempt position. Compensation is commensurate with skills and experience. This position is eligible for over-time and health insurance benefits according to applicable guidelines. We are seeking a dependable and experienced Chef to oversee and run the kitchen in our Recuperative Care facility. This role is essential in supporting the health and recovery of our residents by ensuring they receive nutritious, well-prepared meals daily.
Responsibilities:
Plan, prepare, and serve three meals per day for residents. Prepare and package food in advance for weekend needs. Maintain a clean, safe, and organized kitchen in compliance with health and safety standards. Monitor food inventory, order supplies, and manage storage. Accommodate dietary restrictions and special meal requests as needed. Work collaboratively with staff to support resident care.
Requirements:
Proven experience as a chef, cook, or in food service (healthcare or residential setting preferred). Knowledge of nutrition and ability to adapt meals for dietary needs. Strong organizational and time-management skills. Must be dependable, punctual, and committed to consistency in food preparation. ServSafe Manager Certification is a plus. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Day-to-day operation of the kitchen, including weekly menu planning. Knife skills. Ensure a high level of food safety, personal hygiene, food handling practices, proper cleaning and sanitizing methods, and complies with Department of Health standards. Serve meals. Store deliveries in appropriate storage areas and maintain a rotation schedule to ensure freshness. Maintain the work area, including all counter tops, utensils, equipment and refrigeration in a clean and sanitary condition in accordance with State, County and company health regulations. Work with and supervise HCF staff and kitchen volunteers to prepare and serve meals. Qualifications Loves God and people. Experience working in a commercial kitchen. Basic English reading and communication skills ServSafe Manager Certification is a plus. Culinary Arts degree is a plus. Physical Demands Must be able to lift, push and pull 50 pounds plus. Stand on your feet for long periods of time.
