Chef/Cook ProCure Recovery - 1.0 Corona del Mar, CA Job Details Part-time $27 - $30 an hour 1 day ago Qualifications Pre-cooking preparation Dietary aide experience Attention to detail Food Handler Certification Time management Full Job Description Chef / Cook - Detox & Residential Treatment ProCure Recovery Substance Use Disorder Detox & Residential Treatment ProCure Recovery is seeking a dependable and experienced Chef/Cook to prepare nutritious, well-balanced meals for clients in our detox and residential treatment program. This position is an important part of creating a comfortable, safe, and supportive environment for clients during early recovery. We are looking for someone who takes pride in preparing quality meals, maintains a clean and organized kitchen, and can accommodate dietary restrictions and individual client needs. Responsibilities Prepare and serve breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks according to the program's meal schedule. Develop and follow weekly menus that provide balanced and nutritious meals. Prepare meals appropriate for clients in detox and early recovery. Accommodate documented dietary needs, including allergies, diabetic-friendly diets, gluten-free options, vegetarian options, and other medically indicated restrictions. Maintain appropriate portion sizes and adequate food availability for clients. Maintain a clean, sanitary, and organized kitchen and food-storage areas. Follow proper food handling, preparation, storage, refrigeration, and sanitation procedures. Monitor refrigerator and freezer temperatures as required. Properly label, date, rotate, and store food using appropriate food-safety practices. Monitor food inventory and prepare grocery and supply lists. Coordinate grocery shopping, food deliveries, and kitchen supplies with program leadership. Minimize unnecessary food waste while maintaining appropriate meal quality and availability. Check expiration dates and remove expired or unsafe food. Maintain kitchen cleaning schedules and food-related documentation as required. Immediately report equipment problems, food-safety concerns, or supply shortages to program leadership. Maintain professional and respectful interactions with clients and staff. Protect client privacy and maintain appropriate professional boundaries. Work collaboratively with program leadership and residential staff regarding client dietary needs. Assist with special meals for holidays, events, or program activities when requested. Perform other kitchen-related duties as assigned. Qualifications Previous experience as a cook, chef, dietary aide, or food-service professional preferred . Experience working in behavioral health, detox/residential treatment, healthcare, assisted living, or another residential setting preferred but not required . Knowledge of proper food handling, sanitation, and kitchen safety. Ability to prepare meals for a small residential population while maintaining variety and quality. Ability to accommodate food allergies and dietary restrictions. Strong organizational and time-management skills. Dependable attendance and punctuality. Ability to work independently and communicate effectively with program staff. Must maintain appropriate boundaries when interacting with clients. Requirements Current California Food Handler Card or ability to obtain one prior to starting work. Ability to safely perform the physical responsibilities associated with food preparation and kitchen operations. Ability to meet applicable employment and background-screening requirements. Clients may arrive with poor nutrition, limited appetite, or specific dietary needs, so patience, consistency, and attention to detail are important. The ideal candidate can run the day-to-day kitchen responsibilities with minimal supervision, keep food and supplies organized, communicate dietary concerns to the team, and provide clients with meals that are nutritious, enjoyable, and prepared with care.
