Pastry Chef Salary:
$70,304-75,000 annual salary
Position Type:
Full-time, Exempt Established Oakland-based catering company seeks an experienced Pastry Chef to lead the development, execution, and management of an innovative pastry highlighting fresh, seasonal ingredients. We work a wide variety of catered events, including weddings, conferences, and corporate functions. The ideal candidate is both a strong culinary leader and an operational partner who can balance creativity and efficiency in a fast-paced catering kitchen. What you'll do:
  • Develop and maintain recipes for baked goods, cakes, and other pastry items.
  • Oversees pastry cost to budgetary requirements using fresh, seasonal ingreients
  • Create daily food and prep lists.
  • Establish and maintain recipes, prep procedures, and quality standards.
  • Maintain kitchen, dish, and storage areas clean, organized, and to safety standards.
  • Place pastry supply orders.
  • Receive products, verify invoices, and check freshness.
  • Train employees to company standards.
  • Set excellent customer service and work examples.
  • Monitor labor, inventory, and ordering to support financial goals.
  • Actively participate as a member of the kitchen team. What you'll need:
  • SERVsafe card required
  • 5+ years of professional pastry experience, including a leadership or supervisory role
  • College or culinary training, or extensive cooking and production experience (experience with celebration cakes is a huge plus!)
  • Commitment to quality service, food and beverage knowledge
  • Basic math and communication skills, oral and written.
  • Demonstrates strong leadership skills and is a team player.
  • Works well under pressure and can effectively solve problems and think on their feet.
  • Must be able to carry loads greater than 35 pounds, and be able to transport up to 70 pounds regularly.
  • Travel may be required for occasional deliveries, visits to other locations, or company meetings.
  • Bilingual in Spanish is highly preferred.

$70,304.00 - $75,000.00 per year
