Job Description

Pastry Cook- Part-Time - South Pasadena We're a busy 7-day café and commissary in South Pasadena building out a modest, rotating pastry program shared between our two stores. You'll have the kitchen quiet to yourself in the early hours, pastry runs 5am-1pm, and you'll be the only person responsible for the program. We're not laminating croissants. We're making cookies, bars, cakes, loaves, and pudding cups, on a rotation that hits 4-5 items per shift. Production is on a 4-day rotation across the week:
  • Tuesday — Cookies & Pudding day: chocolate chip, ghraybeh, cardamom pistachio shortbread, banana pudding cups
  • Wednesday — Bars day: lemon-lime bars, fudge brownies
  • Friday — Loaves & cakes: olive oil orange cake, walnut apricot loaf, cardamom banana bread, ashta pudding cups
  • Saturday — Cakes + vegan/
GF:
olive oil chocolate cake (vegan), coffee cake, tahini date cookies (vegan/GF), coconut cardamom rice pudding cups (vegan/GF) What we're looking for
  • 2+ years pastry or bakery experience
  • Comfort with batch baking, scaling recipes, and managing multiple items in one shift
  • Clean, organized, and reliable-you'll often be alone in the kitchen and we need to trust your output
  • Familiarity with Middle Eastern pastries (ghraybeh, ashta, sfouf, tahini-date) is a plus but not required.
