Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Sushi Chef Helper to join our vibrant culinary team. In this role, you will assist in the preparation and presentation of sushi and other Japanese dishes, ensuring high standards of food quality, safety, and cleanliness. Responsibilities Assist in preparing sushi ingredients, including slicing fish and vegetables using proper knife skills and slicing techniques Support the chef in assembling sushi rolls, nigiri, sashimi, and other Japanese specialties according to established recipes and presentation standards Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen area, including sanitizing workstations and operating kitchen equipment safely Follow food safety management protocols to ensure proper food handling, storage, and hygiene practices throughout all stages of food preparation Help with meal preparation for catering events or daily service, adhering strictly to recipe adherence guidelines Communicate effectively with kitchen staff to coordinate tasks efficiently and ensure smooth workflow during busy periods Assist in inventory management by monitoring ingredients' freshness and notifying supervisors of supply needs Experience Previous experience in a dietary department or dietary aide role is advantageous but not required; enthusiasm for learning is valued highly Familiarity with food industry standards related to food safety, handling, and sanitation practices is essential Experience working in restaurant or food service environments will help you excel in this role Knowledge of culinary techniques, especially knife skills and slicing methods specific to sushi preparation, is preferred Prior kitchen experience involving operating commercial kitchen equipment such as rice cookers, sushi mats, or refrigeration units is beneficial Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members and ensure safety standards are maintained at all times A background in catering or meal preparation services will support your success in this position Join us as a Sushi Chef Helper and be part of a passionate team committed to delivering authentic Japanese cuisine with precision and care.
