Full-Time | $24-28/hour DOE | Salary Considered for Exceptional Candidates Tahoe National Brewing Company is an independent brewery and scratch kitchen overlooking beautiful Lake Tahoe. Since opening in 2021, we've built a reputation for serving food that goes far beyond what people expect from a brewery. We brew our own beer in-house and believe great beer deserves equally great food. We're looking for a passionate, organized, and motivated Sous Chef to join our leadership team. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys mentoring cooks, thrives in a collaborative environment, and wants to help shape a growing culinary program. This is not a fine dining kitchen—but we take our food seriously. We prepare food from scratch, emphasize quality and consistency, and feature two chef-driven international menus each year alongside our signature brewery menu. If you love learning new cuisines, developing recipes, and creating memorable food without the pretentious atmosphere, we'd love to meet you. What You'll Do As Sous Chef, you'll work closely with the Kitchen Manager to ensure smooth daily operations while maintaining high standards for food quality, cleanliness, organization, and team performance.
Responsibilities include:
Lead and supervise a team of 3-4 cooks during service. Maintain exceptional food quality, consistency, and presentation. Uphold sanitation, cleanliness, and food safety standards. Assist with interviewing and onboarding new kitchen staff. Train and mentor cooks while helping build a positive team culture. Create daily prep lists and monitor production. Assist with inventory management and ordering when the Kitchen Manager is unavailable. Help develop seasonal menus, international menus, chef specials, and new recipes. Assist with recipe costing and menu development. Ensure recipes and procedures are executed consistently. Help manage labor efficiency and kitchen organization. Foster a professional, respectful, and collaborative work environment. Our Kitchen We cook with a wide range of equipment and techniques, including: 6 burner range In-house smoker Charcoal grill Pizza oven Broilers Flat-top grill Fryer Our menus regularly explore global flavors and cooking techniques while staying approachable and beer-friendly. We're Looking For Someone Who Has at least 3 years of professional line cooking experience. Leadership experience is preferred but not required. Loves food and is always looking to learn. Enjoys teaching and developing other cooks. Takes pride in organization and cleanliness. Can maintain consistency during high-volume service. Wants long-term stability and room to grow. Appreciates a brewery atmosphere but has a genuine passion for cooking.
