The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Japanese cuisine, particularly in the preparation of sushi and sashimi. This role requires creativity, attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining high standards of food safety and quality. As a Sushi Chef, you will play a vital role in delivering an exceptional dining experience to our guests in a fine dining environment. Responsibilities Prepare and present high-quality sushi dishes, including nigiri, sashimi, and rolls, ensuring consistency and excellence in taste and presentation. Collaborate with the kitchen team to design innovative sushi menus that reflect seasonal ingredients and customer preferences. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the sushi station, adhering to food safety standards and regulations. Handle food products with care, ensuring proper storage and handling techniques are followed to minimize waste. Utilize various kitchen tools and equipment safely, including knives and sushi-making tools, while demonstrating excellent knife skills. Assist in training junior kitchen staff on sushi preparation techniques and best practices in food handling. Monitor inventory levels of sushi ingredients and communicate needs for ordering supplies as necessary. Requirements Proven experience as a Sushi Chef or similar role within a restaurant or food service environment. Strong knowledge of Japanese cuisine, particularly sushi preparation techniques. Familiarity with menu planning and the ability to create unique sushi offerings that appeal to guests. Excellent knife skills and proficiency in using kitchen equipment safely. Understanding of food safety standards and practices related to food handling. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment while maintaining high-quality standards.
