We believe good food and a welcoming table build belonging — for eight years and counting, we've been bringing our community together one meal at a time. Our team is small but mighty, and we could not do this work without the skill, creativity, and heart of our Chef. The Role We're looking for a Chef to lead the kitchen for two meal services each week: our Thursday to-go meals and our Sunday in-person sit-down dinners. You'll plan menus, place orders within budget, and turn donated and rescued food into meals our neighbors look forward to. This is a hands-on, creative role for someone who loves the challenge of cooking well with what's on hand. What You'll Do Plan menus and place food orders for two weekly meal services, working within an established budget Creatively incorporate donated and rescued food from our partners into planned menus Prepare and oversee production of meals for 100-175+ guests per service Receive, inventory, and properly store food donations and purchases Coordinate food pickups from partner organizations and donors as needed, and pick up from our location as needed Maintain safe food handling, storage, and kitchen sanitation practices, meeting or exceeding local health department standards Work alongside and help train volunteers during prep and service, providing clear direction Communicate regularly with the Executive Director on planning, budget, and operations What You Bring Professional cooking experience; banquet or high-volume catering experience a plus Comfort planning menus around a budget and around variable, donation-based ingredients ServSafe Manager certification, or willingness to obtain one Reliable transportation — you'll need to get to our location and pick up food donations when needed Strong organizational skills and an independent, self-motivated working style Good communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to lead volunteers with care and respect Compassion for those experiencing poverty and food insecurity
Details Hours:
Approximately 15 hours/week to start, with room to grow
Required:
Sundays, 10 AM-8
PM Flexible:
Additional hours for planning, ordering, and Thursday meal prep/service, scheduled around your availability
