The Galley is a seasonal waterfront fast casual dining establishment serving breakfast and lunch sandwiches during the day and operates a full-service bar in the evening. Located and owned by Norwalk Cove Marina, we pride ourselves on providing the entire community with an open space to enjoy waterside views, great food and an inviting atmosphere for a quick bite or special occasion. Our unique menu and location make it an easy destination for everyone to enjoy all summer long. We are also building out our catering and events services. We are seeking a talented and experienced Sous Chef to join our team for the upcoming season. Our ideal candidate is passionate about food, thrives in a dynamic environment, and has a proven track record in catering and banquet-style events.
Job Description :
As a Sous Chef, you will play a vital role in our kitchen, ensuring the highest standards of food quality and presentation for our catering and banquet events. You will work closely with our Head Chef to develop menus, oversee kitchen operations, and lead a team of culinary professionals.
Key Responsibilities :
Assist the Executive Chef in menu planning and development. Supervise and coordinate all activities of kitchen staff. Ensure all food preparation meets the company's high standards of quality and presentation. Oversee the setup, execution, and breakdown of catering and banquet events. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe kitchen environment. Monitor food inventory and order supplies as needed. Train and mentor junior kitchen staff. Adhere to all food safety and sanitation guidelines.
Requirements :
Proven experience as a Sous Chef or similar role in catering and event-style events. Culinary degree or equivalent experience. Strong leadership and team management skills. Excellent knowledge of culinary techniques and practices. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously. Exceptional attention to detail and a passion for creating high-quality dishes. Flexible schedule, including availability on weekends and holidays.
