General Manager / Ownership Team About Deep 6 Arcade Deep 6 Arcade is a one-of-a-kind destination combining a family-friendly restaurant, full-service bar, and authentic retro arcade. Located directly across from the Stratford train station (Take the train to work if you want), we offer handcrafted food, beverages, classic arcade games, pinball machines, and a nostalgic atmosphere unlike anywhere else in Connecticut. We're looking for a hands-on Head of Kitchen who can lead our food operation, maintain high quality standards, and help create an exceptional guest experience. Position Summary The Head of Kitchen is responsible for overseeing all kitchen operations, including food preparation, staff management, inventory control, food safety compliance, scheduling, and quality assurance. This position requires a strong leader who can build systems, train employees, maintain consistency, and operate efficiently in a fast-paced environment. This is a working management position. The Head of Kitchen is expected to lead by example and actively participate in food preparation and service when necessary. ResponsibilitiesKitchen Operations Manage all day-to-day kitchen operations. Ensure food quality, consistency, and presentation standards are maintained. Monitor ticket times and kitchen workflow during service. Establish and maintain prep schedules and opening/closing procedures. Minimize food waste and maximize kitchen efficiency. Team Leadership Hire, train, coach, and develop kitchen staff. Create weekly employee schedules. Foster a positive, professional, and accountable work environment. Conduct performance reviews and corrective coaching when necessary. Ensure all staff follow company policies and procedures. Food Safety & Compliance Maintain compliance with all Connecticut and Stratford Health Department regulations. Ensure proper food handling, storage, sanitation, and temperature controls. Maintain cleaning schedules and sanitation logs. Ensure all employees follow ServSafe and food safety standards. Inventory & Purchasing Monitor inventory levels and maintain appropriate stock. Receive and inspect deliveries. Control food costs and portion consistency. Assist with vendor relationships and ordering through approved suppliers. Conduct regular inventory counts. Menu Development Assist ownership in refining and improving menu offerings. Identify opportunities for specials and seasonal items. Help streamline recipes and kitchen processes for consistency and profitability. Equipment Maintenance Ensure all kitchen equipment remains clean and operational. Report maintenance issues promptly. Coordinate with ownership regarding equipment repairs or replacement needs. QualificationsRequired Minimum 3 years of kitchen management experience. Strong understanding of food safety and sanitation practices. Experience managing kitchen staff and scheduling employees. Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays. Strong communication and leadership skills. Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds. Preferred ServSafe Manager Certification. Experience in high-volume casual dining environments. Experience with pizza preparation and cooking. Experience with inventory management systems.
