About Mita Mita is a Michelin-recognized Latin American fine dining restaurant in Washington, DC, helmed by Executive Chefs Miguel Guerra and Tatiana Mora. Our kitchen elevates Latin American culinary tradition through refined technique, seasonal ingredients, and a tasting menu experience grounded in story and craft. The Role We're seeking a driven, detail-oriented Sous Chef to help lead daily kitchen operations and support the culinary vision behind Mita's tasting menu. What You'll Do Run service on assigned stations, ensuring every plate meets Mita's standards for technique, consistency, and presentation Partner with the Executive Chef and CDC on menu R D, seasonal rotations, and tasting menu refinement Lead, train, and develop line cooks and prep staff, building a culture of accountability and growth Enforce DC Health and food safety standards across all kitchen operations Help coordinate special events, collaboration dinners, and off-site activations Step in for the CDC or Executive Chef in their absence to maintain kitchen continuity Communicate clearly across FOH and BOH to keep service tight and pacing on point What You Bring 3+ years in a professional kitchen, including 2+ years in a leadership or supervisory role Experience in fine dining; Michelin-starred, tasting-menu, or comparably acclaimed kitchen experience strongly preferred Genuine interest in or familiarity with Latin American culinary traditions and ingredients Formal culinary training or equivalent hands-on experience Strong technical foundation across classic and modern technique Ability to lead a team calmly and effectively under pressure Working knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and cost control practices Availability for evenings, weekends, and holidays
