Summary •Be part of the opening team for our brand-new upscale restaurant Oribu!•Join us for this incredible opportunity at the Hyatt-managed Grand Hyatt Washington hotel located in the heart of Washington, D.C. We are looking for a Sous Chef to lead and inspire our kitchen staff in the creation of culinary masterpieces. This person will work primarily in Oribu Restaurant, and the desired candidate must have good knowledge of various sushi types and sushi rolling techniques with the ability to work both fast and accurately. Oribu features upscale Mediterranean and Asian food, and this role is crucial for maintaining the kitchen's efficiency and ensuring high-quality food production. To ensure success, this person must have excellent leadership skills with experience managing a team in a high-energy environment. Top candidates are creative individuals with a passion for great food and excellent service. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Menu planning and assisting with the plating presentation Ensuring that all food meets the highest quality standards and is served on time Hiring and training of kitchen staff to prepare and cook all menu items Collaborating with restaurant operations team Optimizing staff productivity Manage kitchen workflow during peak times or when a station needs additional support Managing product inventory and placing orders as needed Ensuring best practices are followed for safety and sanitation in the kitchen Monitoring new industry trends Incorporating feedback from staff and guests to make improvements Manage scheduling, payroll, coaching, training, and development of team members Ensure fullpliance with Department of Health regulations and Hyatt standards The salary range for this position is $66,100 to $73,000. Qualifications Must possess strong leadership,munication,anization, and relationship skills Experience working with sushi Passion for creating incredible food that delights and attracts customers Creative and innovative thinking Exceptional standards for cleanliness, health, and safety Experience with training, basic financial management, and customer service Proficient in generalputer knowledge A true desire to exceed guest expectations in a fast-paced customer service environment Capable of producing a consistent product in a timely manner Culinary education and/or on-the-job training with in-depth skills and knowledge of all kitchen operations and cooking techniques Availability to work a flexible schedule including mornings, afternoons, evenings, weekends, and holidays
