Job Description

Overview We are seeking a skilled and passionate Sushi Chef to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience in sushi preparation, food handling, and fine dining to create authentic and visually appealing sushi dishes. This role offers an exciting opportunity to showcase culinary expertise in a dynamic restaurant environment dedicated to high-quality Japanese cuisine. The Sushi Chef will be responsible for preparing, presenting, and maintaining the quality of sushi offerings while ensuring adherence to food safety standards. Candidates with a background in dietary department or dietary aide experience, menu planning, and catering are encouraged to apply. Responsibilities Prepare a variety of sushi dishes with precision and artistry, following established recipes and presentation standards Maintain high standards of food safety and hygiene in all aspects of food handling and preparation Plan and develop sushi menus that align with restaurant themes and customer preferences Ensure all ingredients are fresh, properly stored, and used efficiently to minimize waste Oversee the setup of sushi stations, including knife skills for slicing fish and vegetables accurately Collaborate with kitchen staff to coordinate meal preparation during service hours Assist in training junior kitchen staff on sushi techniques, food safety protocols, and proper handling procedures Maintain cleanliness of workstations and ensure compliance with health regulations at all times Qualifications Proven experience as a Sushi Chef or in a similar role within fine dining or Japanese cuisine settings Strong knife skills and expertise in food preparation, cooking, and food presentation Knowledge of food safety standards and proper handling practices in the food industry Experience in menu planning, catering, or meal preparation is a plus Background in dietary department or dietary aide work is advantageous Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail in food service and plating Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining high-quality standards Culinary experience with a focus on Japanese cuisine or sushi artistry preferred Join our team to craft exceptional sushi dishes that delight our guests while advancing your culinary career in a professional environment committed to excellence.
