Exempt Job Summary:
We are seeking a talented and passionate Sous Chef to join our team as the lead operator for our new food truck. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in culinary arts, experience running all aspects of food truck service, and the ability to teach BGCNF Culinary students culinary arts skills. Management expertise is required to be able to instruct part-time line cooks. Must be able to work alongside our Program Director - Culinary and our Service Team Coordinator. As Sous Chef, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the culinary skills and knowledge of our teenage participants while fostering a creative and supportive learning environment.

Culinary Arts:
Passion to help foster and co-assist in culinary arts training to culinary ats students Collaborate with program coordinators to design curriculum materials, lesson plans, and educational resources tailored to the skill levels and interests of teenage participants. Continuously update and enhance curriculum content to keep pace with culinary trends, industry standards, and student feedback. Food Truck Experience Experience leading a food truck Knowledge of P&L reports of food truck revenue a plus Ability to buy bulk order for multiple events to reduce event cost Menu creation Ability to think on your feet with a faced paced business that can change for esch event
Mentoring and Support:
Provide mentorship and individualized support to students, offering constructive feedback and encouragement to help them develop their culinary skills and confidence. Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment where students feel empowered to explore their creativity and express their culinary passion.
Kitchen Management:
Assist in the organization and maintenance of the culinary program's kitchen facilities, ensuring cleanliness, sanitation, and compliance with safety regulations. Supervise students during cooking sessions, overseeing kitchen operations, and promoting teamwork and cooperation among participants.
Collaboration and Communication:
Collaborate with fellow instructors, program staff, and external partners to coordinate special events, culinary competitions, and guest chef demonstrations. Communicate effectively with parents/guardians, providing updates on students' progress, achievements, and areas for improvement.
Requirements:
Proven experience working as a Sous Chef or in a similar culinary role, with a strong foundation in culinary techniques, cooking methods, and kitchen management. Experience in Food Truck Operations, scheduling and staffing A passion for teaching and mentoring teenagers, with demonstrated experience in delivering engaging and educational culinary instruction. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with and inspire young learners from diverse backgrounds. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to multitask, prioritize responsibilities, and manage time effectively. A positive attitude, patience, and a genuine desire to empower teenagers to explore their culinary interests and reach their full potential.
Preferred Qualifications:
Formal culinary education from an accredited culinary school or equivalent industry experience. Previous experience working with teenagers in a culinary education setting, such as Knowledge of food safety standards and best practices in kitchen hygiene and sanitation. Familiarity with educational technology tools and online learning platforms for creating interactive and engaging culinary lessons.
Salary and Schedule:
Annual salary of $50,000-55,000 Monday through Friday flexible schedule with occasional Saturdays and Sundays as required for Food Truck and catering events or activities. (
