This position is responsible for preparing nutritious meals and snacks for 150+ children and staff members while maintaining a clean, safe, and organized kitchen environment. This is a year-round position . Jelly Bean Junction operates throughout the year and is only closed on major holidays. Schedule Monday - Friday 8:00 AM - 2:00 PM No evenings, weekends, or late-night shifts. Position Overview This is a single-person kitchen operation . The Cook is solely responsible for the daily operation of the kitchen, including meal preparation, food distribution, dishwashing, inventory organization, receiving food deliveries, and maintaining sanitation standards. The ideal candidate must be comfortable working independently, managing multiple responsibilities, and maintaining an organized workflow throughout the day. Responsibilities Prepare and serve daily breakfast, lunch, and afternoon snack for 150+ children and staff. Portion and distribute meals to classrooms using a family-style dining approach. Deliver food, serving bowls, plates, cups, and utensils to classrooms. Collect dirty dishes from classrooms and operate the commercial dishwasher. Maintain kitchen cleanliness and sanitation throughout the day. Receive, organize, and properly store food deliveries and supplies. Monitor inventory and communicate supply needs to administration. Follow food allergy procedures and prevent cross-contamination. Monitor food temperatures and maintain proper food storage practices. Maintain refrigerators, freezers, shelving, and storage areas in a clean and organized manner. Assist with other center duties as needed. Menu Development We currently have an established menu in place and would welcome the opportunity to collaborate with an experienced cook who is interested in helping us improve and modify our menu to offer healthier, nutritious options while remaining mindful of food costs, preparation efficiency, and childcare meal program requirements. Qualifications Must be able to communicate effectively in English. Food Handler Certification required or willingness to obtain upon hire. Minimum one year of cooking experience required. Institutional cooking experience (childcare center, school, camp, healthcare facility, etc.) preferred. Experience preparing meals for large groups preferred. Experience with USDA Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) guidelines preferred. Ability to follow recipes, menus, and portion requirements. Basic math skills for measuring ingredients and calculating serving quantities. Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and remain on your feet for extended periods. Strong organizational and time management skills. Reliable attendance and punctuality are essential.

Meet all requirements for employment in a licensed childcare facility.
