Sushi Chef Job Description Job Overview We are seeking a skilled and passionate Sushi Chef to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in food preparation and handling, with a focus on sushi and Japanese cuisine. This role is essential in delivering high-quality dishes in a fine dining environment, ensuring that each plate meets our standards for taste and presentation. The Sushi Chef will work closely with other kitchen staff to create an exceptional dining experience for our guests. Responsibilities Prepare and present sushi and sashimi using traditional techniques and high-quality ingredients. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the sushi station, adhering to food safety standards. Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure timely service and efficient workflow during peak hours. Assist in menu development by contributing innovative sushi recipes and ideas. Ensure proper food handling procedures are followed to maintain quality and safety. Monitor inventory levels of sushi ingredients and assist in ordering supplies as needed. Provide training and support to junior kitchen staff on sushi preparation techniques. Requirements Proven experience as a Sushi Chef or in a similar role within the food service industry. Strong knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices in food handling. Familiarity with fine dining standards and catering services is a plus. Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced kitchen environment. Excellent knife skills and attention to detail in food presentation. Strong communication skills and the ability to work well within a team. A passion for culinary arts, particularly Japanese cuisine, is highly desirable.
