Our passionate and committed staff are committed to ensuring your night out be a memorable one. At Aura Restaurant and Lounge, our mission is to provide our guests with an elevated experience. Our dining menu is both expansive and expertly crafted, with our chefs bringing together a vast portfolio of past experience and a willingness to be bold in order to present dishes both delectable and delicious. Our menu offerings range from fresh twists on New American Fine Dining to worldly dishes inspired from Asia, Europe, and South America.
Sous Chef Job Responsibilities:
Assists the chef in the all food service operations and day-to-day operations of the kitchen. Provides direction to kitchen staff, ensuring execution of all employee duties. Monitors kitchen operations to ensure compliance with health and fire department regulations. Ensures compliance with state, federal, and local food handling requirements and standards. Assists in the implementation and management of kitchen and restaurant policies and procedures throughout scheduled shift. Completes the duties of a line cook when needed, and is capable of performing the duties of all kitchen positions. Ensures products are stored at the correct temperatures and the recipe books are up to date with current menu items, portions, and ingredients. Ensures utilization of daily prep sheets and meat/fish yield sheets daily and that product counts are recorded accurately daily. Participates in monthly inventory process. Anticipates, identifies, and corrects any issues with inventory, systems, and staffing. Monitors labor costs to attain budgeted goals within restaurant policies and procedures. Oversees and approves training and development of kitchen staff. Participates in the hiring process by conducting interviews and making hiring recommendations. Assists in completion of all back-of-house employee 30-day and annual reviews. Our hours of operation are Monday thru Saturday from 11:00 AM to 10:00 PM. Our kitchen gets in as early as 9:00 AM and is expected to stay until we are closed and cleaned up and all kitchen projects are finished. We are constantly innovating in our kitchen, producing a fresh coursed-out menu each month for our monthly Third Thursday Wine Dinner, as well as new monthly features for our dining room patrons. We get involved in fun off-sites events as we are regular partners with Winefest, the West Des Moines and Clive Chambers of Commerce, and the Iowa Restaurant Association. We are a growth-oriented operation, always looking for new leaders.
Sous Chef Qualifications/Skills:

Education, Experience, and Licensing Requirements:
