Job Description

Job Summary:
We are looking for a steward and pastry assistant here at U3 that is passionate about learning more about cafe pastry production. The ideal candidate will work well with our head pastry chef, help maintain a high quality of products, and has experience with assisting in commercial kitchens (sweeping, mopping, dishes, restocking).
Responsibilities:
Participates in the daily production and distribution of all pastries and grab and go items. Ensures recipes and standards are followed, food costs are controlled and appropriate quantity is prepared based on established production needs. Ensures proper food handling, presentation, portion control and maintenance of proper serving temperatures. Maintains excellent communication with front of house staff on cafe needs. Monitors and controls the maintenance and sanitation of the pastry kitchen and equipment to ensure a work environment that meets/exceeds federal, state and corporate standards and regulations. Helps with large scale production of assorted pastries for events both in and out of the cafe. Is comfortable standing and lifting heavy objects up to 50 pounds for an 8 hour shift.
Qualifications:
Applicants should have 6 months to 1 year of pastry assistant or prep cook experience. Customer service Cafe or restaurant production experience ServSafe and allergens certificate Maintenance of kitchen equipment Leadership and initiative
