This role offers an exciting opportunity to craft authentic sushi dishes and assist in maintaining a high standard of food quality and safety. The ideal candidate will bring enthusiasm for Japanese cuisine, excellent knife skills, and a strong commitment to food safety protocols. Whether you're an experienced sushi chef or a dedicated helper eager to grow your culinary skills, this position provides a dynamic environment to showcase your talents and contribute to memorable dining experiences. Duties Prepare and assemble sushi dishes with precision, adhering to authentic recipes and presentation standards Assist in the preparation of ingredients, including fish, rice, vegetables, and garnishes, following strict food safety sanitizing procedures Operate kitchen equipment such as sushi rollers, rice cookers, knives, and other culinary tools safely and efficiently Maintain cleanliness and organization of the sushi station and overall kitchen area in compliance with food safety management practices Support in menu planning by suggesting innovative sushi combinations and ensuring ingredient availability for high-volume production Help with food handling, portion control, and ensuring all dishes meet quality standards before serving Collaborate with team members to ensure timely meal preparation during busy service hours Qualifications Previous experience in kitchen or sushi roles or food industry settings preferred, especially in fine dining or restaurant environments Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques including poaching, braising, grilling, and cooking methods relevant to sushi making Demonstrated knife skills with the ability to handle delicate ingredients carefully and efficiently Familiarity with food safety sanitizing procedures and food handling regulations required for maintaining hygiene standards Experience with menu planning, recipe adherence, and high-volume production is highly desirable Ability to operate kitchen equipment safely while maintaining efficiency during fast-paced service times Culinary experience in the food industry with a focus on seafood or Japanese cuisine is a plus Experience is preferred but not mandatory starting pay is subject to change depending on the amount of experience you have.
