The Hill Market at Money Hill Opportunity Overview The Hill Market is not simply a grocery store, café, or restaurant. It is the centerpiece of a growing Village at Money Hill, one of the Gulf South's most distinctive master-planned communities. We are seeking an experienced, entrepreneurial operator to launch, lead, and grow a first-class café market that serves as both a gathering place and an essential community resource. This is a rare opportunity for the right person to help build something from the ground up. About The Hill Market The Hill Market will be a thoughtfully curated 4,200-square-foot café market located at the entrance to Money Hill. The vision is to create a place where residents and visitors can: Enjoy coffee, breakfast, lunch, and prepared foods Purchase groceries and pantry essentials Pick up dinner on the way home Find fresh meats, cheeses, bread, wine, and specialty items Attend wine tastings, cooking classes, and special events Gather with friends and neighbors in a warm and welcoming setting The market will blend the best elements of a neighborhood café, specialty grocer, butcher shop, wine merchant, and community gathering place.
Products will include:
Fresh produce Prepared foods Grab-and-go meals Bakery items Specialty groceries Local and regional products Meat and seafood Wine and spirits Entertaining and gift items The market will continually evolve based on customer demand, seasonality, and community feedback. Position Summary The Founding Operator will have full responsibility for the day-to-day management and long-term success of The Hill Market. This individual will recruit and lead the team, manage financial performance, oversee inventory and purchasing, maintain quality standards, drive customer engagement, and help shape the market's evolution as it grows. The operator will work closely with Money Hill ownership, management, and club leadership while maintaining primary responsibility for market operations. Key Responsibilities Leadership & Culture Build and lead a high-performing team Recruit, train, and develop staff Create a culture of hospitality, professionalism, and accountability Maintain high standards of service and presentation Foster strong employee retention and engagement Operations Oversee all daily operations Manage staffing schedules and labor costs Supervise inventory, purchasing, and vendor relationships Control waste and shrinkage Ensure cleanliness, organization, and food safety compliance Establish systems and operating procedures Financial Performance Manage profitability and operating budgets Monitor key performance indicators Control expenses and maximize efficiency Develop strategies to increase revenue and customer frequency Participate in forecasting and business planning Food & Beverage Program Work closely with the market chef and culinary team Curate product offerings and seasonal menus Develop prepared food and grab-and-go programs Help create an outstanding wine, beer, and spirits selection Evaluate opportunities for specialty meat, smokehouse, and catering programs Customer Experience Build relationships with residents, members, and guests Become a visible and trusted presence in the community Create an exceptional guest experience Gather customer feedback and continuously improve operations Marketing & Community Engagement Develop promotions and seasonal offerings Organize wine tastings, cooking classes, and special events Launch membership, wine club, and supper club concepts Collaborate with Money Hill's marketing team Promote the market throughout the region Ideal Qualifications The ideal candidate will possess many of the following qualities: Proven leadership experience in hospitality, food service, specialty retail, grocery, restaurant, or market operations Strong business and financial management skills Experience managing teams and building culture Passion for food, hospitality, and customer service Entrepreneurial mindset Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities Strong organizational and operational skills Ability to adapt and evolve a growing business Experience in one or more of the following areas is highly desirable: Specialty grocery operations Restaurant management Culinary leadership Butcher shop or meat programs Wine and spirits programs Catering operations Event programming Community-based retail businesses What Success Looks Like Within the first three years, the successful operator will have: Built a profitable and respected business Established The Hill Market as a destination within the region Created a loyal customer following Developed a strong team and positive workplace culture Expanded food, beverage, and event offerings Become an important part of the Money Hill community Compensation Compensation will include a competitive base salary, performance-based incentives, and the opportunity to participate meaningfully in the long-term success of the business.
