Job Description
Job Requirements General Summary Under moderate supervision, supervises the daily activities and personnel of designated area and coordinates with other areas of the department. Mission All employees are responsible for extending the mission and values of Baltimore Washington Medical Center by dedicating oneself to providing the highest quality healthcare services to the communities we serve. Reporting Relationships Reports to the Operations Manager. Planning Ensures appropriate staffing in designated area. Develops standards of performance, determining areas of responsibility and accountability for his/her specific area. Prepares, maintains, and revises work schedules, training guides, cleaning schedules, and operating procedures. Participates in annual budget preparation (in-put for Capital and minor equipment). Demonstrates cost effectiveness in the ordering and use of supplies and equipment. Reports to the Director any suggestions for positive changes or special projects which may benefit the department and institution. Responds to changes in the workload as necessary; continually utilizes resources and time in a productive manner for the efficient operation of the department. Supervision Implements and monitors work standards, sanitation and storage procedures, and personal hygiene requirements to assure the compliance with institutional rules; local, state, and federal regulations; and food-handling principles (HACCP Guideline). Supervises food production programs for patients and cafeteria. Supervises the patient menu/meal operation. Supervises the food usage. Supervises the quantity of food left over on Trayline for call backs. Supervises the quantity of food being prepared and leftovers for the cafeteria. Supervises patient tray line/cafeteria operation. Implements and monitors safety standards and practices. Assigns cleaning duties; inspects kitchen/cafeteria/dish room for cleanliness and sanitation. Supervises the dishwashing/pot washing practice. Supervises the disposal of garbage. Monitors to make sure that the holding, transferring, and disposal of garbage is always performed in a proper manner. Demonstrates a thorough knowledge of the work schedules and key requirements for each position in his/her area. Employee Management Supervises assigned staff; recommends promotions, merit increases; initiates disciplinary actions as necessary. Counsels and advises staff members. Maintains staff files to include work performance, attendance record, and disciplinary measures. Communicates with staff on a regular basis, keeping them abreast of pertinent information with regard to department issues, hospital regulations, personnel policies and procedures Professional Responsibilities Demonstrates an awareness of self responsibility and accountability for their own professional responsibilities. Demonstrates responsibility for self learning. Understands patient rights and follows all requirements. Participates in the development of policies and procedures. Participates in and assists with Quality Assessment and performance improvement activities. Demonstrates effective communication methods and skills, using line of authority appropriately. Demonstrates effective problem identification and resolution skills. Utilizes appropriate customer relations skills. Attends hospital and departmental meetings as required or assigned. Adheres to the departments specific personnel polices and procedures as stated in the employee handbook
Work Experience Qualifications Education :
High school diploma or equivalency required. ServSafe certification by the National Restaurant Association Education Foundation required.Experience:
At least two (2) years of experience in institutional feeding or therapeutic diets required.
