Head Chef U of M Flint Picasso Restaurant Group is seeking an experienced and driven Head Chef to lead culinary operations at the University of Michigan-Flint cafeteria. We are looking for a passionate culinary professional with strong leadership skills and the ability to execute high-end food production in a fast-paced, high-volume environment. About Us Picasso Restaurant Group is a family-owned food service management company providing exceptional dining experiences across hospitals, universities, and corporate facilities throughout Michigan. From elegant high-end catering events to daily café dining services, we pride ourselves on delivering quality, creativity, hospitality, and operational excellence in every setting. Position Overview The Head Chef will oversee all back-of-house operations, menu execution, food quality, staff leadership, and kitchen performance while maintaining the highest standards of safety and professionalism. Responsibilities Lead and manage all kitchen operations Facilitate high-end, high-volume food production and service Execute both upscale catered events and daily café meal service Develop and execute creative, quality-driven menus Train, mentor, and supervise kitchen staff Maintain food quality, consistency, and presentation standards Manage inventory, ordering, and food cost controls Ensure compliance with sanitation and safety regulations Collaborate with management to improve operations and guest satisfaction Qualifications Minimum 5 years of experience in a Head Chef role Proven experience in high-volume food service environments Experience with both catering and cafeteria-style service preferred Strong leadership and team-building skills Ability to work efficiently under pressure Excellent organizational and communication skills Culinary degree preferred, but not required ServSafe certification preferred What We Offer Competitive pay based on experience Growth opportunities within a rapidly expanding company Supportive team environment Opportunity to showcase creativity and leadership Join a company that values culinary excellence and professional growth.
