Job Description
Ginny's Tavern is looking for a talented, motivated Head Chef / Kitchen Manager to help us build the kitchen and food program for our newly reimagined hometown tavern in Marne, Michigan. We're creating a place that feels comfortable, welcoming and familiar —with really good food that keeps people coming back. Our menu focuses on approachable American tavern fare, including burgers, sandwiches, appetizers, comfort-food favorites, steaks, seafood, daily specials and more. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants more than just another kitchen job. We're looking for a chef who wants to take ownership of a kitchen, help shape the menu and put their own stamp on a growing restaurant. What You'll Do Lead day-to-day kitchen operations Work hands-on in the kitchen alongside the team Help finalize and continually improve Ginny's menu Develop recipes, daily specials and seasonal offerings Maintain consistency, quality, presentation and portion standards Hire, train, schedule and lead kitchen staff Manage food ordering and inventory Monitor food cost, waste and kitchen labor Maintain a clean, organized and efficient kitchen Ensure proper food safety and sanitation procedures Work closely with ownership to grow the restaurant and develop the Ginny's Tavern food program Who We're Looking For We're looking for someone who is: Passionate about making great, approachable food A strong leader who is also willing to work alongside the team Organized and dependable Comfortable taking ownership of kitchen operations Creative and interested in developing specials and new menu items Knowledgeable about food cost, inventory and portion control Able to maintain quality and consistency during busy service Excited about helping build a restaurant and kitchen culture from the ground up Previous kitchen leadership experience is preferred, but we are also very interested in motivated culinary school graduates who are ready to take the next step in their careers. Recent graduates of GRCC's Secchia Institute for Culinary Education are encouraged to apply. Compensation $48,000-$52,000 annually, based on experience We are open to discussing additional performance-based compensation for the right candidate. Why Ginny's?
