Approximately 20 hours per week, with opportunities for additional hours based on event volume and performance About the Role We're looking for a dependable Sous Chef to join our team and work directly alongside our Executive Chef. This is a true second-in-command position with the opportunity to take ownership of kitchen operations and play a major role in the success of our events. The right person is reliable, works with a sense of urgency, and has a positive attitude. We operate a scratch kitchen with a strong focus on quality, so we're looking for someone who takes pride in their craft and understands the importance of consistency, attention to detail, and preparing food the right way. We're a small team, so we need someone who is willing to jump in wherever needed, whether that's prepping for an event, leading service, washing dishes, or closing down the kitchen at the end of a long day. Reliability, accountability, and a willingness to help the team succeed are just as important as culinary experience. You will regularly be trusted to run the kitchen when the Executive Chef is off-site, so the ability to work independently, stay organized, and make good decisions is essential. What You'll Be DoingKitchen Leadership Work directly with the Executive Chef to execute events and maintain kitchen standards Help oversee daily kitchen operations and event preparation Run kitchen operations when the Executive Chef is unavailable Maintain food quality, consistency, and presentation standards Assist with inventory, ordering, organization, and kitchen efficiency Help train and support kitchen staff as needed Solve problems and adapt quickly in a fast-paced environment Food Prep & Production Prep ingredients and menu items for weddings, corporate events, and private celebrations Prepare menu items from scratch while maintaining our standards for quality, consistency, and presentation Execute recipes accurately and efficiently Assist with large-scale food production for events Maintain proper food safety and sanitation standards Event Execution Lead or assist with meal service during events Help ensure food is served on time and at a high standard Adapt to changes and challenges that naturally come with event days Assist with event setup, service, and breakdown Cleaning & Closing Keep the kitchen clean, organized, and safe Wash dishes, cookware, and equipment as needed Complete end-of-shift cleaning and closing responsibilities Help ensure the kitchen is ready for the next event What We're Looking For At least 3 years of professional kitchen experience Previous experience as a Sous Chef, Lead Line Cook, Banquet Chef, or similar leadership role is preferred Current Food Manager Certification required, or the ability to obtain a valid Missouri-recognized Food Manager Certification within 30 days of hire as a condition of employment Ability to work independently and take ownership of responsibilities Reliable, accountable, and consistently on time Positive attitude and team-oriented mindset Strong sense of urgency without sacrificing quality Strong organizational and communication skills Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by event schedules What We Offer Competitive pay based on experience ($20

We pride ourselves on delivering a personalized experience for every client and guest, ensuring each event is thoughtfully executed and truly memorable. We provide in-house catering for most of the events hosted in our venue, serving groups ranging from 50 to 200 guests. Our team executes approximately 130 events each year, giving us the opportunity to be part of some truly special moments while maintaining a consistent event schedule. We operate a scratch kitchen with a strong focus on quality, using fresh ingredients and preparing food with care and attention to detail.
