Head Chef The London Tea Room - 3.3 St. Louis, MO Job Details Full-time From $55,000 a year 16 hours ago Benefits Health insurance Dental insurance Paid time off Vision insurance Qualifications Team development Hiring Training & development Leadership Delegation Full Job Description Head Chef Position Our head chef will independently manage both the logistical and culinary aspects of our kitchen. Once onboarding is complete, they will have a great deal of creative freedom and autonomy, both in how they choose to manage their kitchen and the food they create. This means we are looking for someone with three important qualities: The experience and drive to implement/maintain systems and procedures that keep their kitchen running smoothly on a daily basis Strong leadership and team management skills Culinary skills that can be used to develop and consistently produce high quality food for our guests Systems Here are some examples of what we hope our chef's implemented systems and procedures will accomplish: Ensuring that we always have food to serve our guests Keeping the kitchen health code compliant Managing inventory and ordering to minimize waste Maintaining a consistent order schedule Provide channels of clear communication for their team Many of the above goals can of course be accomplished with things like checklists for the team, weekly meetings, and inventory management. The creation and delegation of such things will be the responsibility of the head chef. Leadership and Management The Head Chef's team is their responsibility. This includes hiring, training, and growing the team as well as other staffing decisions. We expect the Head Chef to have clear lines of communication with their staff and the ability to delegate when necessary. Culinary Skills The head chef will be responsible for development of the menu. While we do require there to always be a few traditional tea items on our plates, there are few parameters beyond that and we want the person who fills this role to be able to excersise their creativity. Baking is a preferred but not required skill as we have two very talented pastry chefs currently, but the head chef will still be responsible for selecting what items they make and ensuring they hit their quotas. Time Commitment We are flexible on what the chef's schedule looks like as long as 40 hours a week are being worked and the tasks listed above are being completed. Service runs Wednesday through Sunday, 9:00am-5:00pm
