The ideal candidate will have experience in operating a Food Truck or MFU, preparing gourmet tacos, fresh tortilla chips, and innovative fusion dishes. This role offers an exciting opportunity to showcase creativity in a lively environment that features a jazz bar with beer and wine offerings. The Chef will be responsible for maintaining high-quality food standards, managing kitchen operations, and ensuring an exceptional dining experience for our guests. Duties Prepare and cook gourmet tacos, fresh tortilla chips, and other Latin Caribbean fusion dishes with attention to flavor, presentation, and quality. Oversee daily kitchen operations, including food prep, cooking, plating, and cleaning procedures. Manage inventory, ensure proper stock levels of ingredients, and coordinate with suppliers as needed. Maintain strict adherence to food safety and sanitation standards to ensure a safe dining environment. Collaborate with the management team to develop new menu items that reflect current culinary trends and customer preferences. Supervise kitchen staff, provide training, and foster a positive team environment. Ensure timely service during busy hours while maintaining high standards of quality. Assist with Food Truck operations when required, bringing expertise in mobile food service logistics. Uphold the restaurant's reputation for Latin Caribbean fusion cuisine by delivering consistent excellence. Requirements Proven experience as a Chef or Cook in a fast-paced restaurant environment; experience with Food Truck operations is highly desirable. Certification as Serv Safe Manager or equivalent food safety certification. Strong knowledge of Latin Caribbean cuisine, including gourmet tacos and fresh tortilla chips preparation. Creativity in developing innovative menu items that appeal to diverse tastes. Excellent leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate kitchen staff effectively. Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining attention to detail. Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed in a dynamic hospitality setting near Central University.
