Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a skilled, innovative Sushi Chef who excels in both culinary execution and creative brand development. This role goes beyond traditional kitchen duties, incorporating menu innovation, cost control, vendor collaboration, and social media content creation to elevate the overall guest experience. Key ResponsibilitiesCulinary Execution Prepare high-quality sushi including nigiri, sashimi, specialty rolls, and seasonal offerings Ensure proper handling, storage, and freshness of all ingredients Maintain strict food safety, cleanliness, and sanitation standards Support efficient kitchen operations during high-volume service Menu Development & Promotions Assist in updating and refining the sushi menu to align with trends and customer preferences Create and execute unique daily and weekly specials Lead and support Wednesday All-You-Can-Eat Sushi operations to ensure consistency, quality, and profitability Contribute creative ideas to enhance guest experience and increase repeat business Cost Control & Operational Oversight Identify opportunities to reduce food costs while maintaining quality standards Monitor portioning, waste, and inventory to maximize profitability Ensure employee discounts and comps are used appropriately and not abused Assist in tracking product usage and recommending cost-efficient alternatives when needed Vendor Relations & Sourcing Build and maintain strong relationships with seafood vendors to ensure consistent quality and pricing Work with preferred vendors including A&D Foods, G&R Seafood, and Sunshine Foods (Preferred) Source and negotiate for high-quality sushi-grade fish at competitive pricing Creative & Marketing Responsibilities Create engaging content for social media platforms (Instagram, TikTok, etc.) Film and showcase sushi preparation, new menu items, and behind-the-scenes content Develop and source trending TikTok content to increase visibility and customer engagement Collaborate with management on promotional campaigns and brand storytelling Required Skills & Qualifications Proven experience as a Sushi Chef Strong knife skills and expertise in fish handling and sushi preparation Solid understanding of food cost control and kitchen efficiency Creativity in both culinary presentation and content creation Familiarity with social media platforms, especially TikTok and Instagram Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment Strong communication and teamwork skills Preferred Qualifications Experience with menu development and restaurant promotions Vendor sourcing or purchasing experience Background in social media or digital marketing Experience in high-volume or specialty sushi environments Work Environment Fast-paced restaurant setting Requires evenings, weekends, and promotional event availability Blend of kitchen operations and creative collaboration
