Sous Chef | Marlboro, NJ | Salary up to 75k An upscale dining restaurant in the Marlboro, NJ area is seeking a talented and hospitality-driven Sous Chef to join its culinary leadership team. This is an excellent opportunity for a chef who is passionate about food, thrives in a polished and professional kitchen environment, and understands the importance of leadership, teamwork, and consistency.
The ideal candidate is hands-on, organized, and committed to delivering a high-quality guest experience through exceptional execution and strong kitchen leadership. Responsibilities Support the Executive Chef in all daily back-of-house operations Lead and supervise kitchen staff during service while maintaining quality and consistency Assist with training, coaching, and developing culinary team members Ensure proper food preparation, presentation, and execution standards are maintained Help manage inventory, ordering, food cost controls, and waste reduction Maintain sanitation, food safety, and cleanliness standards at all times Step into leadership responsibilities in the Executive Chef's absence Foster a positive, professional, and team-oriented kitchen culture Assist with menu execution, specials, and operational improvements Qualifications Previous Sous Chef or strong kitchen leadership experience in upscale dining Strong culinary skills with attention to detail and presentation Ability to lead calmly and effectively in a fast-paced environment Passion for hospitality, teamwork, and guest satisfaction Knowledge of food cost management, prep systems, and kitchen organization Strong communication and leadership skills Hands-on leadership style with a willingness to work alongside the team ServSafe certification preferred What we are looking for We are seeking a chef who is confident but humble — someone who leads through work ethic, professionalism, and consistency.
