Job Overview We are seeking a skilled and passionate Sushi Chef to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in sushi preparation, food safety, and menu planning within a fine dining or restaurant environment. This role offers an opportunity to showcase culinary artistry, contribute to innovative menu development, and deliver exceptional dining experiences. Candidates with a background in the food industry, culinary arts, or related experience in food handling and kitchen operations are encouraged to apply. Responsibilities Prepare and assemble high-quality sushi dishes in accordance with established recipes and presentation standards Design and develop sushi menus that appeal to diverse customer preferences Ensure all food handling and preparation adhere to strict food safety and sanitation guidelines Maintain cleanliness and organization of the sushi station and kitchen area Manage inventory levels of ingredients, ensuring freshness and proper storage Collaborate with restaurant staff to deliver excellent food service and customer satisfaction Demonstrate knife skills and precise food preparation techniques for various sushi types Assist in catering events or special functions involving sushi or Japanese cuisine when needed Uphold the restaurant's standards for fine dining presentation and quality Qualifications Proven experience in sushi preparation, culinary arts, or related kitchen roles within a restaurant or food service setting Strong knowledge of food safety regulations and proper handling procedures Experience with menu planning, food presentation, and creative plating techniques Skilled in knife handling, food preparation, cooking, and meal assembly Background in dietary department or dietary aide experience is a plus Familiarity with catering, serving, and fine dining service standards Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail in food quality and sanitation standards Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment Prior experience in the food industry, including restaurant experience or culinary training, is highly desirable
